Grooming Guidelines “Head to Toe”

Costume Checks & Dress Rehearsals & Recitals

1.     Dancers Ages 3-5 Program: Hair must be slicked back in a mid to low tight bun. Dancers Ages 5+ Dance Programs and Teams: Hair must be slicked back to a LOW bun at the nape of the neck, with a center part at the top. *Remember: LOTS OF GEL & HAIR SPRAY, if the hair can move, you still need MORE!

2.     Anything in the hair must match the color of the hair. Use bobby pins and hair nets to secure the bun.

3.     Makeup should be applied generously on females in the following colors; Brown eye shadow, Pink blush, and Red colored lipstick are to be worn by all students.

Dancers Ages 5-8 must wear a light coat of mascara on the upper lashes.

Dancers Ages 9+ must wear Black Mascara, and Black eyeliner on top and bottom.

Dancers Ages 11 & up should wear foundation.

*Please, no extra sparkles or glitter.

4.     Please remove all jewelry, colored band aids & nail polish. For students with newly pierced ears, place a flesh-colored band aid over the earrings.

5.     No underwear for the females. Your tights are your underwear. If your dancer is wearing underwear, it will be seen though the costumes with the bright stage lights.

6.     Put your students name in all their dance shoes to relieve any confusion during costume changes back stage. Double knot and cut the strings on ballet slippers. Make sure your students ballet slippers have elastics sewn into the shoe. Cut out all tags from each costume.

7.     Before you leave your home, make sure you have ALL Costumes, Headpieces, Shoes and Accessories. **For students with multiple routines, use one hanger for each costume. Attach a zip lock bag (labeled with their name) and place all accessories, tights and headpieces for that routine in the bag. Do the same for each costume.

Any grooming questions may be directed to class instructors.
